Fairmount Park And Elsewhere In Philadelphia, PA

 

 

 

 

 

 

Invitation To The General Public:

You are invited to take a tour of the historic houses of Fairmount Park on Saturday May 31, 2008 or Sunday June 1, 2008. For only $30 you can visit up to eleven historic houses plus Fairmount Water Works. We look forward to seeing you on this fabulous weekend.

This is the only time in 2008 that this special rate will be available so we recommend you make a reservation as soon as possible.

Philadelphia Open House

Saturday May 31, 2008 or Sunday June 1, 2008
10:00 AM to 4:00 PM each day
Co-sponsored by Friends of Independence National Historical Park and Fairmount Park Council for Historic Sites

Transportation: Private Vehicles

Tours will be self-guided drive tours. Tourists will have to use their own cars to get from house to house.

Starting Point For All Tourists:

Sweetbriar Mansion, 1 Sweetbriar Lane, Fairmount Park West, Philadelphia, PA 215-222-1333

Payment:

$30 per person

Each tour day will include the historic houses in both Fairmount Park East and Fairmount Park West. For example, on May 31, 2008 tourists will be able to visit the historic houses (on our list) in Fairmount Park East and Fairmount Park West. Same for June 1, 2008.

Guided Tours Available:

Tourists will be given a guided tour at each location. There is no specific order that tourists must see the houses; tourists can see houses in any order.

Tour Includes:

West Park: Sweetbriar, Japanese House, Ohio House, Belmont Mansion and Cedar Grove

East Park: Laurel Hill, Lemon Hill, Strawberry Mansion, Fairmount Water Works, Woodford and Mount Pleasant
